Why I Chose Notion to Build the Operational Backbone of Rooh Strategies
I disappeared for a bit, but I’m back.
Behind the scenes, I’ve been focused on building the foundations of Rooh Strategies—and like any emerging consultancy, the early stages require intentional systems. A business can start with a vision, but it grows through structure. That realization led me into testing multiple tools to support digital public affairs work, client management, policy analysis, and operations. One platform consistently stood out: Notion.
What Is Notion?
Notion is a customizable digital workspace that combines notes, tasks, project management, dashboards, documentation, and collaboration into one flexible ecosystem. If Google Workspace acts as your digital filing cabinet, Notion functions as your strategic headquarters—where your ideas, workflows, clients, and operations actually connect rather than sit in separate apps.
This interconnectedness is exactly what I needed while building Rooh Strategies.
The Learning Curve Is Real—but Worth It
Notion isn’t a simple “plug and play” tool. It’s powerful because it’s customizable, and customization requires time. While the help center is useful, the best learning truly happens through YouTube creators who demonstrate templates and real-world workflows.
But once you stay consistent, the platform becomes intuitive. It starts operating like a digital extension of your brain—one that keeps your systems organized and your decision-making clear.
Notion became the backbone for three main reasons:
1. Connected Client & Project Management
Rooh Strategies spans digital strategy, advocacy, research, narrative development, and stakeholder engagement. Each lane produces tasks, timelines, notes, and deliverables. Notion allows all of these pieces to live in a single integrated system.
Change a status in one place, and it updates everywhere. That level of clarity is essential for consulting work grounded in strategy, responsiveness, and storytelling.
2. Organization & Customization
One of my goals has been establishing strong internal clarity early. Notion allows me to create:
* Client portals
* Strategic planning boards
* Research libraries
* Messaging calendars
* Operating dashboards
* Content systems
Everything links together automatically, reducing cognitive load and helping me stay proactive rather than reactive.
3. Notion AI as a Quiet Strategic Partner
Once the foundations are set, Notion AI becomes incredibly valuable. I use it to summarize meetings, outline strategies, organize research, clean up notes, and build templates. It doesn’t replace deep thinking—it enhances the operational side of it.
Building a Modern Consulting Firm Requires Modern Systems
Rooh Strategies is a values-driven practice built on clarity, ethical storytelling, and impact. With that comes complexity—client work, research, digital monitoring, strategy, and internal systems. Notion provides the structure that keeps everything aligned.
I’ll be sharing more behind-the-scenes insights as the firm continues to grow. Hopefully, these reflections help other founders and strategists build their systems with clarity and confidence.
